I found the chart below quite intriguing, as it reflects data obtained from my newsletter's subscriber dashboard. Let me break down the numbers for you. You might be familiar with the saying - If you don’t ask, the answer is always no
To provide some context, I've been sending out newsletters since August 2021. However, it was only from December of that year until September 2022 that I was more consistent & actively encouraging to subscribe within the videos. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, I was occupied and couldn't continue sending out newsletters or promoting subscriptions in my videos. The reasons behind this shift in strategy are elaborated in a separate content piece.
💡 The impact of this shift is evident in the subscription rate, which shows a declining trend from September 2022 onwards. I believe that those who continued to subscribe were either from older videos or individuals who delved deep into my profile.
✅ This observation aligns with the wisdom embedded in the phrase, "If you don't ask, the answer is always no." This principle played a pivotal role in boosting my subscription numbers during that time, as I actively appealed to my audience to subscribe. Similarly, you may have encountered content creators urging you to subscribe to their YouTube channels during their videos. Often, people forget to subscribe, and it takes a moment of encouragement to prompt them to press the magical button.
At its core, this phrase underscores the significance of proactive communication. Often, people are held back by fear—fear of rejection, fear of failure, or fear of stepping out of their comfort zones. However, by reframing the situation with this mantra, individuals are encouraged to overcome their apprehensions and embrace the possibility of a positive outcome. It encourages a mindset shift from passive complacency to active engagement with the world.

🧩 This saying resonates in various aspects of life, from personal relationships to professional endeavors. In personal relationships, it nudges individuals to articulate their feelings, ask for what they want, and take the necessary steps to build connections. In the professional realm, it becomes a rallying cry for those seeking opportunities, promotions, or career advancements. It suggests that progress often requires a willingness to initiate conversations, negotiate terms, or propose ideas.
